Kenny Babcock, at his manufacturing Company, made the records from magnetic tape masters to finished record product. The punch press, pictured above, was used to trim the 45 rpm records when they came out of the record pressing machine. The punch press would make the center whole the size that all 45 rpm records have. At the same time it would trim the excess vinyl off the outside edge of the record. That trim die is not install on the press in the picture. Just in case you were trying to figure out how that die would do the triming. He also had overflow manufacturing available with the H.V. Wadell Company, in Burbank, for making large quantity's of high demand records. |
